Posture & Balance
Why are posture & balance so important? Posture & balance are a direct reflection of our brain. When our brain is active and able to adapt to changes, we have good posture and have no problems with balance. However, when our brain is less active and less able to adapt to changes, we have poor posture and our balance is suspect.
Posture is important throughout our life. Infants start out not being able to lift their own head. However, their posture begins to improve, they hold up their head and eventually develop enough stability in their torso to stand and walk. Not coincidentally, as these changes are occuring, they also reach numerous developmental milestones such as talking and increased fine motor control.
As we get older posture is still very important. As our posture decreases, so does our activity level, mood (that's why they are called Grumpy Old Men and Crotchety Old Women) and cognitive ability.
At LFC, we work to improve balance and posture so that you can Get Well & Stay Well.
